Staging Tips - Free

1. De-personalize your home

Remove personal photos, vacation memorabilia and diplomas - You want a buyer to be able to envision themselves living in this home, not whoever is presently living there.

2. De-clutter every room

Be critical. Scale back. Less is always more!  If it doesn't compliment the space get rid of it. Don't store all your extra stuff in the basement or garage - donate to your favorite charity or rent a storage space.

3. CLEAN, CLEAN AND CLEAN

A clean home leaves the impression that the house is well cared for. Everything looks better when spotless.

Remember to clean your windows, clean windows let in more light and look newer. Hire a service if you have to, it's worth the investment.

4. Consider your curb appeal

Clean your front door and if in need of painting, choose a rich, deep colour like black or red. Put urns with rich overflowing green beside the entrance way for an inviting look.

Moe your lawn, rake the leaves, or shovel the snow. Sweep the porch, deck and all walk ways and ensure that garbage, recycling and all toys are tucked neatly away from the front of the house.

6. Let in some light

Keep your house bright. Dimly lit rooms tend to look small and dingy. Leave all curtains and blinds open and keep lamps on at all times.

7. Air-out your house

Open some windows for at least 10 minutes. There is nothing worse than walking into a stuffy house or one that smells of smoke and pet odors.
